Physical
exertion at high altitude along with terrain, weather and snow
variations are some of the challenges that you may experience
on a trip. Depending on the trip, participants can expect to
cover 3-10 miles per day, with elevation changes of 700-3000
feet per day, while carrying a pack weighing 20-30 pounds.
Our
trips are designed to accommodate a variety of inter- ests and
ability levels, from a basic introduction to back- country skiing
as well as more challenging trekking and mountaineering style
trips that visit numerous huts. Most trips include one or two
layover days for telemarking or ski touring in the surrounding
area.
Participants should be
proficient in basic skiing skills of snowplow and step turn
and be able to control their downhill speed. Certain
trips require more advanced ski- ing skills with instruction
provided at all ability levels. All trips
require that participants be in good physical condition and
allow for proper high altitude acclimation. A great
spirit for adventure is needed to enjoy the surprises and challenges
that will be encountered along the way. Custom trips can be
designed to meet interests of your family and friends with
particular abilities in mind.
Please call our office, we will help you evaluate
your ski level and recommend an appropriate trip.
